“Century”

This is one of my early paintings. When the century plant is ready to bloom a large stalk shoots up very quickly from the center with small stalks that hold the blooms. I have watched the process on my walks as many of our neighbors have this plant in their yard. It flowers only once at the end of its life and then the plant dies. The flowers last for about a month and they are so beautiful to see. This painting was created with acrylic paints in a watercolor style.
